Anthony’s journalism career began early, writing for the Kansas City Star while still in high school. Later, he ran or helped to run television newsrooms in Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico and Ohio.
His focus on politics and holding local governments accountable won recognition from his broadcasting peers, including Emmy awards as well as the prestigious Walter Cronkite Award for excellence in Political Journalism.
He later served as the first Political Director in the history of SJL Broadcasting, a multi-national group headquartered here in the United States.
Ultimately, he transitioned into higher education, teaching communications, public policy and political management on the graduate and undergraduate level. He serves at such prestigious institutions as George Washington University (Graduate School of Political Management) and Southern New Hampshire University (Graduate School of Communications).
He is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Political Science and Communications at Adrian College (MI) and in the Department of Political Science at Bowling Green State University (OH).
During his academic career, Mr. Knopps has been focused on teaching students the importance of ethical behavior, especially in public policy and strategic communication.
He also works with the Department of State as part of the Georgian Media Partnership Program where he helps to teach ethical storytelling to journalists in the former Soviet Republic and now the free and democratic country of Georgia.
He also serves as a Strategic Communications Consultant for Vietnam Television in Hanoi where he trains reporters in storytelling, brand identification and working with political leaders (not always the easiest thing to do in their environment).
In a recent visit to DC, Mr. Knopps also worked with members of the Vietnamese Government's Politburo on ways to identify and curtail corruption at the local, state and national levels.
Mr. Knopps is also a consultant with the Center for International Media Assistance which is part of the National Endowment for Democracy.
